The China Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo will be painted in seven shades of red.

Construction began on the facade of the Chinese icon for the event with two aluminum boards being installed on a forty-one meter-high beam of the Sixty-three  meter structure.


Thousands of such boards, about sixty thousand square meters in all, in seven shades of red will be installed on the crossbeams and the structure's four huge feet.
Other parts of the pavilion will be covered by glass.

Different shades of red will be used on different levels to make the pavilion look as if it is all the same color in sunlight.                                           
The red will be darker on upper part and lighter nearer the ground.


The organizer had considered painting the pavilion in a single red, but this would have looked like it was painted in different shades because of its irregular shape.    
The  twenty thousandsquare-meter China Pavilion, "The Crown of the East," is an inverted pyramid on its upper part.
The organizer spent more than six months to find the perfect reds.
Many different shades of the color were collected, some from the Forbidden City in Beijing.
Experts from the China Academy of Art then combined and improved them.


The color will not fade in thirty years. And even if does begin to fade, it will be unnoticeable, he added.

The organizer had gone through a dozen plans for both the red and the materials:

- glass;
- porcelain; and
- light emitting diodes;
had been considered for the facade.



The work on the exterior is due to be finished on July 25.

The interior decoration and exhibition arrangements will commence on September 30 and are due to be finished before the end of the year.

El pabellón de China en la Expo Shanghai 2010 ahondará en la migración rural
La inmigración china del campo a la ciudad, en los últimos treinta años, será uno de los temas principales en el pabellón nacional se está construyendo para la Exposición Universal de Shanghai.

"La corona de Oriente", según se conoce al inmenso pabellón de China, recibirá a los visitantes con unos ascensores decorados como los antiguos trenes que llevaban a los trabajadores de las zonas rurales hasta las ciudades; que los transportarán hasta el piso más alto del edificio.
Allí se proyectará una película documental, "La migración de cientos de millones"; en la cual, se explicará el pasado y el presente de estos inmigrantes.

El pabellón de China contará con:
-  una zona expositiva en su piso más alto;
-  un espacio experimental en el segundo piso con juegos para planificar las ciudades chinas; y
-  una zona funcional en la planta baja, en la que se exhibirán nuevas tecnologías destinadas a facilitar una vida mejor en los centros urbanos.

Los organizadores de la Expo anunciaron que ya está casi terminada la red de estaciones de televisión con la que se retransmitirán imágenes y noticias del evento a:
-  teléfonos móviles;
-  pantallas portátiles; y
-  agendas electrónicas.
La Administración Estatal de Radio, Cine y Televisión envió un millar de televisiones portátiles a los organizadores de la Expo para apoyar el uso de esta nueva tecnología.
